Biography

Chris S. Vink received his BSc degree in Biology & Medical Laboratory Research (cum laude) from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (NL) in 2009, after completing his BSc thesis at The University of Oxford (UK). Straight after, he took on the role of head research technician at the Erasmus Stem Cell Institute (Erasmus MC, NL), where he actively performed blood stem cell (HSC) research and managed a biological laboratory. In 2014, he was responsible for relocating the laboratory to The University of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK), where he took on the role of laboratory manager. In addition to managing a lab, he continued as stem cell scientist focusing on the identification of novel molecules involved in HSC generation. In this role he also established and maintained several large-scale collaborative research projects (The University of Edinburgh, University of Cambridge, Erasmus MC). In 2022 he obtained his PhD degree from The University of Edinburgh. His research has resulted in 23 first-/co-authored journal papers of high significance in the stem cell field and three journal covers. In September 2023 he moved to the Bioelectronics Section (Dept. of Microelectronics) at TU Delft, to start working at the interface of biology and technology. Here, he will apply his >14 years of life sciences research and managerial experience to build, manage and perform research in a new state-of-the-art Microelectronics Biological Testing laboratory that will facilitate the development of next-generation electroceuticals.
