MSc thesis project proposal

CMOS-based Hall sensor without offset

Offset is a major issue with silicon based Hall sensors is offset. One solution has been the spinning Hall plate. This reduces the offset by a factor of 1000, meaning that a Hall plate can be used as a compass. However, this approach required spinning the current. This means that the device is slower and requires multiplexing. Using a star-shaped CMOS devices we can achieve the same reduction in offset without the delay of spinning and without the multiplexing. The aim of this project is to develop a number of CMOS-based devices to test the hypothesis.

Assignment

The asignment is to develop and measure a range of CMOS based magnetic sensors
