Postdoc in Analog and Mixed-Signal IC design

Opening for: Postdoc

Status details

Status:Open
Announced:12 Jul 2022
Closing date:31 Aug 2022
Duration:3 years

Focused ultrasound (FUS) brain stimulation and EEG recording are stimulation and recording modalities to interface with the brain. Both FUS and EEG are seeing great developments in terms of miniaturization and spatial density. Merging these two technologies has the potential to provide a minimally-invasive yet highly powerful tool for closed-loop brain interfaces. While FUS can stimulate neural circuits with high precision and coverage, EEG can detect brain signals that correlate with different states of disease. To achieve this, new circuit architectures and system level optimizations need to be implemented to optimize the energy and area efficiency of such systems.

In this fully funded 3-year Postdoc position (UPSIDE EU grant – EIC Pathfinder Challenges), you will investigate novel system level architectures for energy and area-efficient FUS and EEG devices at the integrated circuit level, using advanced CMOS technologies. You will be embedded in the research group of Dr. Tiago Costa and Dr. Dante Muratore, and will have close collaboration with colleagues in both groups. You will also work closely with collaborators in the fields of microfabrication, microsystem integration and neurobiology. The outcome of your work will be tested in vivo towards unraveling the promising effect of FUS in the complex neural circuits involved in treatment-resistant depression.

You will be embedded in the research group of Dr. Tiago Costa and Dr. Dante Muratore and will have close collaboration with colleagues from the section Bioelectronics and the department Microelectronics.

For more information, please contact Dr. Tiago Costa (t.m.l.dacosta@tudelft.nl) and/or Dr. Dante Muratore (d.g.muratore@tudelft.nl)
